IP Engineer

Job mission:

• To manage the design and planning of sustainable, future-proof IP and Core services networks
• To map out a technology roadmap for technological migration in line with global technology trends

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

• Plan and monitor Core and IP planning budget in line with business plan and departmental goals and targets
• Ensure Internet Service Provider (ISP), Network Service Provider (NSP) requirements are met, oversee technical planning initiatives.
• Strategic planning (brainstorming with all relevant departments) of IP transport and Core network
• Translate Company’s Business plan and subscriber growth assumptions into :

o        Requirements for the Core Network

o        Requirements for the IP Network

• Development of policies on the deployment of selected equipment
• Oversee and approve detailed Product and Service design (route sizes, etc.)
• Oversee the assigning of resources
• Oversee and approve equipment configurations to be ordered from supplier(s) including cost control
• Maintains capacity and functionality requirements based on forecasted  traffic for the PS Core, CS Core and IP Network elements.

Vendor management

• Oversee outsourced projects, vendor selection and relationship, vendor performance and solution delivery.
• Participate in all procurement negotiations with vendors
• Select vendors based on technical expertise and ability to rollout

Core and IP network Rollout

• Assist in the Rollout of the core and IP network
• Ensure on time planning and designs are released
• Oversee and drive rollout, installation and integration of new nodes and systems

Core and IP Network Performance

• Manage network performance in the core and IP areas
• Provide weekly and monthly reporting on performance

Requirements

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
• Over 4 years in Telecommunications, IP standards, core standards, protocols and applications essential.
• Technical Skill, Interpersonal Skills, Communication (verbal, written and visual) across all levels
